Our Name
Why are we called Coram Deo Reformation Church?
Coram Deo is Latin for “Before the Face of God.” Our name expresses our prayer that we might live all of our lives with consciously and intentionally trying to find out what pleases the Lord (Ephesians 5:10). This means that not only do we want to be conscious and intentional in pleasing God in our worship, but that we order our lives around the will of God as He has revealed in His word. We have to confess, of course, that we are a long way toward living and worshipping like this perfectly. That’s why God calls us to hear His Word proclaimed in our hearing each week. It is the bread of life for our souls! He confirms the gospel in the sacraments and by them nourishes us unto eternal life. He sends us with His blessing each week as we intend to live our lives, “Before the face of God!”
